The Australian born Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has died, aged 28 years.
One of the "Brokeback Mountain" stars, Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment. Another young actor is victim to the curse of the Hollywood dream machine
The death of the 28-year-old Australian actor has been confirmed by New York Police. There are no details on how he died, but talk suggests it could well be drug related. It is understood his body was discovered by his housekeeper.
Ledger reportedly rose from being a young Aussie hopeful to an Oscar nominated Hollywood star, in a stellar nine year career at the top. He got his break and became a heartthrob in teenage movie "Ten Things I Hate About You" in 1999. Ledger went on to star in "The Patriot", "Monster's Ball", "A Knight's Tale", "Ned Kelly" and "The Brothers Grimm".
Perhaps his most challenging and talked about role was his Oscar-nominated work in the now iconic gay movie, "Brokeback Mountain", where he played a cowboy struggling with his sexuality.
Ledger has left behind a young daughter, two-year-old Matilda Rose, whose mother was "Brokeback Mountain" co-star and ex-fiance Michelle Williams.
The film industry has lost another talented heart throb, who may well have become one of the greats in years to come.
