Camel burgers, fries and a sheik.
A restaurant in Dubai has started serving camel burgers as a healthy alternative to beef patties. The Local House is billing their new camel burger as 'fat and cholesterol free'. The quarter pounder is marinated in a secret mix of herbs and spices and served with cheese and sauce on a bun quite cheaply..
Camel meat is widely consumed in Arab countries, but doesn't appear on very many restaurant menus as it's known for being grisly and tough.
Now we know how international chains often have to put a spin on conventional favourites to localise them.
In nearby Oman the corner Maccas serves up something called the McArabia. Muslims don't eat pork, so lamb is a handy substitute:
And Australia could find a market for all those camels racing about in the outback?
