The doctor told the inquest in London that he thought Princess Di would survive...
The first doctor at the scene of the car smash that killed Princess Di in the Pont de Alma tunnel in Paris on the 31 August 1997 thought she would survive her ordeal.
He stopped his car and ran across the road to the smoking wreck to offer help to the woman in the back of the car, whom he failed to recognize.
Frederic Mailliez gave evidence to the inquest recently in London. He said, "she was moaning, she was breathing but was very weak." He added that her face appeared to be unmarked.
Princess Di would die very soon after and became part of history.
