Elderly Aussie woman, 94, attacked by giant roo...
Phyllis Johnson has asked that the animal not be put down
The 94-year-old Australian woman attacked by a giant kangaroo has asked that the animal not be put down.
"Eddie", a red kangaroo raised in captivity, repeatedly kicked Phyllis Johnson after it escaped from its enclosure in Queensland's west.
The buck was only restrained during its backyard rampage by police officers who doused it with capsicum spray, the Courier Mail reported.
But despite being hospitalised by the kangaroo, Ms Johnson said she did not want to see it destroyed.
"I don't want the roo set free in this area again in case it attacks someone else, but I definitely do not want it killed," she said.
Darryl Dobbin, who was babysitting Eddie at the time of its escape, said the marsupial was "misunderstood".
"He grew up with people and he will follow you and come when you call him," he said.
"He's really gentle."
Ms Johnson suffered scratches and bruises and could receive surgery on her leg.
