Prisoners in Britain let out early...

Paris Hilton was able to in California, but the British let up to 1200 'non-dangerous' prisoners out early according to recent reports. The prisoners were let out 18 days early as part of the British Government's emergency package to ease the prisons' overcrowding.
Apparently the decision to release so many prisoners on 'end of custody' licences came not a moment too soon for the governers of the 140 British prisons in England and Wales, who have struggled to cope with prison population of a record 81,000 inmates, including 351 in police cells.
A further 400 are expected to be released early this coming Monday.
The official capacity of the prison estate in England and Wales is just 81,442, including the 400 currently in police cells.
